tattoos aren’t vegan??

Why are tattoos not vegan?

Beyond The Tattoo

At Plush Tattoo, we go above and beyond to create the chillest tattoo experience you’ll ever have. We feel like the commitment to being chill extends to the products we use. We are both vegan so naturally, we decided to ensure that every aspect of our studio, from razors to inks and aftercare products are also vegan. We want to be super transparent about our pickiness in only using vegan and cruelty-free products and processes because our ideal client cares about this stuff. We believe you shouldn’t have to compromise your ethics to adorn your body with a cool tattoo or permanent makeup!

Inks

The most obvious reason why a tattoo might not be vegan is the ink. Many traditional inks contain animal-derived ingredients, such as bone char, shellac, or gelatin. These ingredients can be present in various colors, including black or red ink. Plush only uses vegan tattoo inks. We do all the research so you can rest assured that your tattoo or permanent makeup will be made of high-quality, cruelty-free inks, free from using animal-derived ingredients or engaging in animal testing.

Shaving

Before getting a tattoo, the area often needs to be shaved to ensure a clean canvas. Unfortunately, many disposable razors in traditional tattoo studios contain animal-derived ingredients or are tested on animals. Animal-derived ingredients like glycerin or stearic acid can be found in the lubricating strips or handle coatings of razors. As part of our commitment to cruelty-free practices, Plush Tattoo prioritizes the use of vegan-friendly razors and shaving products. We ensure that every aspect of the tattoo process, including shaving, aligns with our dedication to a compassionate lifestyle.

Aftercare

Aftercare is a vital part of the tattoo healing process. Unfortunately, non-vegan ingredients can be found in some conventional aftercare products. Beeswax, lanolin, or animal-derived glycerin are commonly used in tattoo ointments, lotions, or balms for their moisturizing properties. However, at Plush Tattoo, we have a list of trusted vegan-friendly aftercare recommendations for our clients.

At Plush Tattoo, we prioritize providing a holistic tattoo experience, ensuring that everything from razors to inks and aftercare products aligns with your compassionate values. By choosing Plush Tattoo, you can confidently express yourself with cool tattoos while staying true to your ethics. Even if you are not vegan, you can rest assured that everything we use has been vetted and triple checked for quality!
