FAQ

  • A little! It is a tattoo after all :) I use topical numbing throughout the procedure to keep you comfortable, however, everyone’s pain thresholds are different. Those with sensitive skin may feel the tattooing sensation more than others, but it really depends!

  • Yes and no. Cosmetic tattooing gives you a great base shape/guideline but some days, you may want a bolder look so it’s totally normal to add makeup to make it pop! But the brows will heal soft and natural to look put-together on those no-makeup days.

  • At this time, I only offer powder/ombre brows. Microblading is an advanced technique which simulates individual hair strokes rather than the shaded look of powder brows. Microblading also comes with different risks and healing is harder to predict than powder brows. For this reason, powder brows are suitable for more individuals than microblading. Touch-ups are also easier for powder brows!

  • Before booking, please contact me at plushbyamber@gmail.com. I will ask you to send me two photos: one with no makeup and one with your brows filled in how you like to wear them everyday. Photos should include your whole face, be well-lit and use NO filters. The better your photos, the easier it will be to determine if I can work with your previous tattoos. Also, please be assured that I will not share your photos with anyone else.

  • No need! However, you will be required to send in photos of your face and skin with your booking. If I find that you are not a good candidate for cosmetic tattooing with me after you’ve booked your appointment, I’ll return your deposit immediately and we stay friends :)

  • That’s up to you! It varies depending on how your skin heals, how serious you are about aftercare, skin type, lifestyle, etc. Clients with oily/textured skin type or mature skin (40+) tend to book touch-up appointments as they sometimes struggle with color retention. If you love your brows, you don’t need to schedule a touch up, but if you want to add more saturation to your color or add a little thickness to the shape, we can totally do that! Most clients come back for a touch up every 1-3 years.

  • This depends on skin type and lifestyle. Clients who are in the sun a lot, have oily skin, use anti-aging creams, Retin-A/retinol products, acidic cleansers, have professional skin care treatments, regular chemical peels, or exercise frequently will fade prematurely and likely need to schedule a touch up appointment.

  • Healing time varies from person to person. Typically, clients are healed between 7-14 days from the initial procedure (flaking, redness, etc). However, the pigment may not be fully settled into your skin until 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment. After 2 weeks, I’ll check in with you to see how you’re healing and go over touch-up options at that time.

  • - Touching your tattoo! Always apply aftercare with a clean q-tip and avoid touching, especially with unwashed hands.

    - Heavy, sweaty exercise for 5 days

    - Direct sun exposure for 4 weeks (good excuse to break out those sunglasses!)

    - Direct shower spray on eyebrows for 1 week

    - Dirt and dander for 1 week (ex. grooming pets, sanding wood, anything that puts dust or dirt into the air around your face)

    - Makeup directly on your tattoo for 5-10 days or until the flaking phase is done, whichever comes first.

    - Facials & skin care treatments for 3 weeks

    - Dog kisses (don’t worry, you can resume once you’re fully healed!)

  • Unfortunately, infections are a possibility with any tattoo procedure. I take great care to practice proper safety and sanitization standards laid out by the Oregon Health Licensing Office (ex. using disposable, one-time use sterile needles from individually sealed packets, sanitizing all equipment between clients, wearing a face mask, maintaining a clean studio space, etc.). As the client, the best way for you to avoid infection is to strictly follow the list above of what to avoid after your tattoo.

  • I ask clients to come into their appointment wearing their brows how they normally like them. I’ll choose the color based on your skin tone, natural brow hair color and take into consideration the color of makeup you prefer to wear.

  • Not unless you want me to! But I try to keep your natural hair in the brow design because it looks more natural and helps determine the best shape for your face.

  • I cannot, unfortunately. Please know that every effort is made on my part to give you the best possible tattoo I can. I understand the seriousness of your choice to modify your face and I will treat your face with the same respect and care as I would treat my own. But each tattoo is a team effort. I can apply the most gorgeous brows on you, but once you leave my studio, the healing is in your hands. Many factors like skin sensitivity, aftercare, lifestyle, medications, age and general health all play a part in the healing process. It’s impossible to predict how you will heal

  • I personally tip anyone who is doing me a service, especially if it requires special skills and definitely if they do a great job. That being said, tips are appreciated but not required.
