cosmetic tattoo healing journey

before your appointment

Your tattoo is a partnership between you and your artist.

Your part starts with good pre-care! Please read carefully prior to your tattoo

  • If you take medications regularly, consult with your doctor before booking your appointment. Some medications don’t mix well with tattooing and can potentially affect your healing and final results. I know it seems like a hassle to ask, but this is your face and I want to give you the best result possible.

  • Arrive with a government ID. All clients must be 18+ years old.

  • Come to your appointment with your brows filled in how you like them. This helps me understand your brow goals!

  • Permanent makeup procedures can not be performed if your are pregnant or nursing. No exceptions here!

  • Please avoid caffeine and alcohol for the day of your procedure. If you get headaches when you don’t drink coffee, you can have a bit but please drink it as far away from your appointment as possible.

  • If your doctor allows it, avoid multivitamins, vitamin E, fish oil/omegas and aspirin/ibuprofen leading up to your procedure.

  • No chemical peels 60 days prior to your procedure.

  • You must be off Accutane for a minimum of one year prior to any permanent cosmetic procedure.

  • No sun tans, excessive sun exposure or tanning beds leading up to your appointment and throughout your healing process. This will negatively affect your final color and healing.

  • All skin care products containing hydroxy acids and lightening ingredients must be discontinued at least 2 weeks before your procedure. Retinol products must be discontinued 3 months before your procedure.

  • Get ready for the healing process by getting a gentle, mild liquid soap before your appointment. Anything fragrance-free for babies or sensitive skin is perfect!

  • Let those brows grow as much as possible before coming in for your appointment! The more hair available, the more we can find your best shape.

  • Avoid waxing or threading at least 48 hours before your tattoo

after your appointment

Now that my part is done, it’s time for you to seal the deal with good aftercare!

  • Remember: Be patient and trust the process. Everyone heals differently so these estimates may vary for you.

  • Wash your tattoo - With baby wash or gentle liquid soap once a day until tattoo starts flaking. Use only your clean fingertips to touch your tattoo. Cup your hands and splash gently to rinse. Blot with a clean paper towel and air dry for 5 min.

  • Hydrate your tattoo - After washing, use a clean Q-tip to apply a very thin layer of your choice of aftercare balm to your tattoo. I like Tiger Spit for a vegan option (Click here to purchase using my affiliate link!) Continue using your aftercare balm until the tattoo is done flaking.

  • Avoid while healing (these could potentially sabotage your healing!)

    • Makeup directly on your tattoo (use a finger space around the whole brow)

    • High water pressure (shower as normal, but keep your face away from the direct pressure)

    • Hot water on your tattoo

    • Swimming

    • Saunas/long steamy showers

    • Pet kisses (don’t worry, it’s not forever!)

    • Excessive sweating (you earned a rest week)

    • Picking, peeling or scratching

    • Tanning beds/exposure to the sun for longer than a few minutes

    • Botox & facial treatments for 30 days

    • Skin care with retinol, benzyol peroxide, lactic acid, salicylic acid directly on your tattoo

(Photo of model with bold brows) Day 1: I love my new brows!
(Photo of model with very dark and bold brows) Days 2-3: OMG they are way too dark!
(Photo of model with brows flaking off) Days 4-10: Ew they're flaking off!
(Photo of model whose brows are very light) Day 11: Umm...they disappeared??
(photo of model with soft, natural looking brows) After a few weeks: The color is back and healed 40% lighter!

Remember, everyone’s healing will look different. But one thing is for sure: if you take aftercare seriously, your brows have the best chance of healing well!
